“House of Cards: How and Why the Financial Market Melted Down”

William Cohan is a former Wall Street senior banker and best-selling investigative journalist with insider knowledge and insights into the current financial crisis. He has written two books about Wall Street: The Last Tycoons, which won the 2007 Financial Times/Goldman Sachs Business Book of the Year Award, and House of Cards: A Tale of Hubris and Wretched Excess on Wall Street. The latter book, published in March 2009, dealt with the current financial crisis and the collapses of Bear Sterns and Lehman Brothers. Previously, Cohan was a Vice President at Lazard Fréres, a Director in the Mergers and Acquisitions Group at Merrill Lynch, and a Managing Director at JPMorgan Chase.

Condoleezza Rice served as the 66th U.S. Secretary of State from January 2005 to 2009. Before serving as America’s chief diplomat, she served as assistant to the President for national security affairs (national security advisory) from January 2001-2005. She is currently the Thomas and Barbara Stephenson Senior Fellow on Public Policy at the Hoover Institution and Professor of Political Science at Stanford University. Rice served as a member of the board of directors for the Chevron, Charles Schwab, and Transamerica corporations.
