PH.D. in Business Administration: Major Field in MSIS

The MSIS PhD program prepares students for careers as college professors in upper tier research universities.   After graduating from the program, students are able to conduct high quality academic research and teach a variety of courses in higher level management information systems education.   By immersing students in national level conferences, college level classroom instruction, and information systems research and publication, they graduate ready to meet the challenges of a rewarding career in academia.

There are four specializations offered under the MSIS option:

* Management Information Systems (MIS)
* Telecommunications Management (TCOM)

--(U.S. Citizens: IASP Scholarship Program )

* Management Science (MS)
* Production and Operations Management (POM)

Students take a common set of courses that cover all four specializations. These are typically Ph.D. seminar courses (varying topics), courses on research methods (statistical and quantitative courses), and other courses offered by the department. Students without a background in business administration will be required to take a core set of business courses in management, finance, accounting, marketing and economics.  In addition, students may also take courses in other departments such as management, computer science, industrial engineering, electrical engineering, among others, depending on their area of specialization. Some students may also have the opportunity to work closely with the Institute for Research in Information Systems (IRIS) and the Center for Telecommunications and Network Security Management (CTANS).
