OSU Alumni Association Launches Alumni Recruiting Network
Written by Lora Malone, OSU Alumni Association
Wednesday, 01 July 2009 14:45

STILLWATER, Okla.  - The OSU Alumni Association is launching a new program to assist Oklahoma State University in recruiting students to Stillwater.

The Alumni Recruiting Network is designed to harness the power of more than 200,000 living alumni to recruit high school seniors across the state of Oklahoma, the United States and around the world to come to OSU.

"There are no better recruiters for our great institution than our loyal and enthusiastic alumni," says Larry Shell, president of the Association. "We know this program will have a positive impact in expanding the visibility of one of our nation's top land-grant universities."

The Network will work closely with the OSU Office of Undergraduate Admissions to coordinate alumni who will volunteer for the program. Volunteers will be encouraged to attend local college fairs and distribute admissions materials to prospective students or adopt a local high school and assist counselors with promoting the university.

"We have already had a great response from our alumni who are eager to get involved in their local communities promoting Oklahoma State," says Lora Malone, vice president and chief programming officer for the Association.

Enrollment for the university has not met the expectations of its graduates, Malone says, with 22,768 enrolled in the fall of 2008. OSU's tuition and mandatory fees are below the regional average and the school is well known for its integrated, high-quality teaching, research and outreach, points that Malone says alumni recruiters can emphasize.

Kyle Wray, the associate vice president for enrollment management and marketing for the university, thanked the OSU Alumni Association Board of Directors, President Larry Shell and all of the active alumni for volunteering to help.

"I am confident the Alumni Recruitment Network will enable us to grow in enrollment at OSU," Wray says. "The Enrollment Management office is honored to collaborate with our proud alumni in this effort."

Alumni who are interested in joining the Alumni Recruiting Network can find more information online at http://orangeconnection.org/recruit. It is a requirement that alumni be active members in the OSU Alumni Association before they can join the Alumni Recruiting Network. Information about joining the Alumni Association can be found at http://orangeconnection.org/join.

The OSU Alumni Association serves as a lifelong connection between alumni and Oklahoma State University. As a member organization, the Association serves more than 200,000 alumni living worldwide, as well as OSU students, faculty, staff and friends. By supporting the extensive alumni network from OSU, the Association provides a connection back to the university through a number of outreach programs as well as a complete directory to connect alumni to each other.
