STILLWATER – William D. Cohan will be the opening speaker for the 2009-2010 Executive Management Briefings in Oklahoma City and Tulsa.
His presentation, “House of Cards: How and Why the Financial Market Melted Down,” is scheduled at noon Wednesday at the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Center, 1700 NE 63rd St., Oklahoma City and at noon Thursday at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, 100 E. Second St., Tulsa.
Cohan, a former Wall Street senior banker, is author of The Last Tycoons, winner of the 2007 Financial Times/Goldman Sachs Business Book of the Year Award, and House of Cards: A Tale of Hubris and Wretched Excess on Wall Street.

STILLWATER, Okla. - Oklahoma State University recently was included in G.I. Jobs magazine’s list of “Military Friendly School” for 2010. The list honors the top 15 percent of colleges, universities and trade schools that are doing the most to embrace America's veterans as students. The list was compiled through exhaustive research starting last May during which G.I. Jobs polled more than 7,000 schools nationwide. Criteria for making the Military Friendly Schools list included efforts to recruit and retain military and veteran students, results in recruiting military and veteran students and academic accreditations. Schools on the Military Friendly Schools list also offer additional benefits to student veterans or active-duty military.

STILLWATER, Okla. – Former U.S. Secretary of State and national security advisor Condoleezza Rice is slated to headline the roster of exciting speakers for the 2009-2010 Tulsa Business Forums series. The Tulsa Business Forums feature international business and political leaders, authors and policymakers who bring critical and timely information to the Oklahoma business community. In addition to Rice, other speakers for the 2009-2010 series include William D. Cohan and J. Alexander M Douglas, Jr.
The Tulsa Business Forums are sponsored by the Spears School of Business and its corporate partners and coordinated by the Center for Executive and Professional Development at Oklahoma State University.
The 2009-2010 series will debut Oct. 15, 2009, at the Tulsa Crowne Plaza Hotel with a luncheon and presentation from noon to 1:30 p.m. by William D. Cohan titled “House of Cards: How and Why the Financial Market Melted Down.”

STILLWATER, Okla.) – Municipal clerks, treasurers and finance officials are invited to attend the Oklahoma Municipal Clerks, Treasurers and Finance Officials Association (OMCTFOA) annual conference to be held Oct. 20-23, 2009, in Stillwater, Okla. This year’s theme is “Shine up those Boots, Line up to Learn.”
“We are very pleased to be able to attract national and state leaders to deliver information on current topics of interest to public officials,” said Clara Welch, OMCTFOA board member. The conference is designed to help participants be successful as they serve their town or city. Topics include the statewide water plan, identity theft, tax collections and fund management, and handling of audited financial statements. Municipal clerks, treasurers and finance officials can gain credit toward earning certification in the national accrediting agency by attending conference sessions.

STILLWATER, Okla. Business and government professionals are encouraged to attend the 2009-2010 Oklahoma State University Management and Professional Development Seminars held in Tulsa and Oklahoma City. The OSU Management and Professional Development Seminars is a series of programs that address relevant topics and help educate people in proper leadership and development in a workplace. The seminars are offered by the OSU Center for Executive and Professional Development. The series will be held August 2009 through May 2010, and the programs are taught by faculty in the Spears School of Business. The first of the 20 seminars will be held Sept. 1, 2009 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the OSU-Oklahoma City campus. “Crucial Communications,” will feature Craig Wallace, associate professor of management. “The Management and Professional Development Seminars are a great way for people to sharpen their skill sets and to learn a few new techniques,” said Ken Eastman, department head and associate professor of management. “The programs are interactive and we focus on giving people information which they can apply the very next day at work.” All OSU Management and Professional Development Seminars are from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Topics range from “Crucial Communications” to “The Power of Influence” and will be presented by OSU faculty and instructors including: Raj Basu; Ken Eastman; Bryan Edwards; Tim Krehbiel; Lee Manzer; Craig Wallace, Mac McCrory, Kim Reyes, and Andy Urich. “These are great seminars with exciting and dynamic presenters,” said Mandy McKinney, CEPD program coordinator. “We have had 20 organizations in the state help us select their priority topics they would like to see offered in this challenging economy. Stillwater, Okla. - High school students from across the state gathered to attend the Oklahoma State University Information Systems Technology Exploration (ISyTE) Academy May 31 - June 5 on the OSU campus in Stillwater, Okla.
The six-day program was designed for students who will be in 10th, 11th or 12th grade during the 2009-2010 academic year and it allowed participants to experience college living first-hand and participate in hands-on activities relevant to business, technology and management information systems (MIS). Participants stayed on the OSU campus and worked with current OSU MIS faculty and graduate students.

STILLWATER, Okla. - Business and government professionals will have the opportunity to improve their leadership skills at the Executive Education Partnership Program scheduled for July 26-30 on the Oklahoma State University campus at the ConocoPhillips OSU Alumni Center.
Executives who attend the Partnership Program can improve their decision-making abilities, exchange ideas and interact with professionals in a variety of fields. Session topics include strategy, ethics, marketing, coaching, leadership, emotional intelligence, economics, mentoring and a business simulation.
"During turbulent business climates, a program like the Partnership Program can help participants stand out as valued contributors in their current and future job positions," said Lee Manzer, OSU Spears School of Business professor of marketing and coordinator of the program.

STILLWATER, Okla. — Goutam Chakraborty, professor of marketing in the Oklahoma State University Spears School of Business, recently received one of the world's most prestigious distance learning awards for excellence in distance learning teaching.
Chakraborty received a bronze award for best practices for excellence in distance learning teaching from the United States Distance Learning Association (USDLA) at its 2009 International Distance Learning Awards in St. Louis, Missouri.
"As a premier organization for the entire distance learning profession, we enjoy honoring some of the leaders in the industry," said John G. Flores, CEO of USDLA. "Each year these winners raise the bar and exceed best practice expectations for the industry as a whole and we are truly honored by their contributions to the distance learning industry."

STILLWATER, Okla. - The 3rd annual OSU Energy Conference will be held in Tulsa, Okla. on May 19 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Renaissance Tulsa Hotel and Convention Center. Energy and business professionals are encouraged to attend this one day conference.
This year’s conference is titled “Energy Independence in a Challenging Economic Environment.” The conference sessions will address how the energy business is ever-changing and the challenges faced in the next era of the energy business.
