(September 21, 2009 Stillwater, Okla.) – Municipal clerks, treasurers and finance officials are invited to attend the Oklahoma Municipal Clerks, Treasurers and Finance Officials Association (OMCTFOA) annual conference to be held Oct. 20-23, 2009, in Stillwater, Okla. This year’s theme is “Shine up those Boots, Line up to Learn.”

“We are very pleased to be able to attract national and state leaders to deliver information on current topics of interest to public officials,” said Clara Welch, OMCTFOA board member.

The conference is designed to help participants be successful as they serve their town or city. Topics include the statewide water plan, identity theft, tax collections and fund management, and handling of audited financial statements. Municipal clerks, treasurers and finance officials can gain credit toward earning certification in the national accrediting agency by attending conference sessions.

Dale Henry, nationally recognized speaker and master story-teller, will be the keynote speaker. Additional speakers include Duane Smith, executive director of Oklahoma Water Resources Board; Anita Breen, director of human resources for the City of Edmond; Special Agent Lori Bynum of the Federal Bureau of Investigation; Scott Meacham, Oklahoma State Treasurer; and Marcy Twyman, certified public accountant with Crawford and Associates.

A new format for 2009 features a four-hour pre-conference workshop with Tim Rider. This workshop about successful communications, plus one other four-hour session about creating a positive workforce, have been authorized to count toward national certification.

All sessions will be held in the conference facilities of the Student Union at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater. More than 100 people are expected to attend.
